Are you making PROGRESS or EXCUSES?

That is beyond badass. I can’t wait to do that some day. Tonight is YOGA night kittens. And here is what I’m going to say, before I forget to ask!

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Where do you get great Workout TOPS? Now, I’m asking for two different types….I find myself often having to (when I’m in town) run out for a while, and then I have to workout later on. So — my little trick to ensuring I will workout is to put on my workout pants and shoes so I’m already dressed for the workout when I get home. Now- I love my Nike tank tops but get real, I’m all Pam Anderson in those with the cleavage going on, so I tend to put some tank tops on, but I want some cool/cute ‘fitness’ type tops AND “jackets” or sweaters- because I don’t want to put on these hujazz sweatshirts I have. You’ll laugh- I went to Athleta and to Lululemon online (I don’t have time to shop in stores ok, so let’s not GO there) and I found #1) NOT a LOT of choices (am I missing something) and also #2) a lot of tank tops with spaghetti straps– which only works if you have boobs like Cameron Diaz (or NO boobs):

If I wasn’t so Kim Kardashian-ish, I would be down with cute tops like that. CLEARLY my cups runneth over. But I want cute tops! And some sweaters/wraps/jackets to go with it that don’t look frumpy. What also annoys me is that when I find a top like on Lululemon that looks cool- it has some jacked up criss-cross craziness going on in the back OR it’s RACERBACK— for the love of GOD people, why must every single workout top be RACERBACK?? For those of us that can be found at Chesty.com, we have to 1) Wear a bra under these tops or 2) get tight-as-hell tanks (like my Nike tops) that have a “built in bra” which smash your girls IN and often combine them into one large mass of boobage.

Cool top. I can’t wear it. A Bra under this would look dumb-as-heck. Furthermore, why did this chick decide to do yoga in a dirty puddle? #Fail

Oh look! Another great top- HALTER STYLE! Can’t wear a bra under this. What the world?? Do they think no one that works out or does yoga has boobs? I need plastic surgery as soon as possible. THEN I don’t have to worry about this whole BRA under workout clothes debacle because I will have robot boobs that defy all gravity and weather.

Seriously??? I might be able to wear a bra under the last one on the right but COMEON!

See!!!! Everything is racerback- and then for those of you that say, it has a shelf bra- come ON! UNIBOOB plus, they make that area so TIGHT, then you have back rolls!! Check out this very slim model above, she even has a little! That bites!

SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE I CAN GET SOMETHING that I want. Help a girl out.

So- the title of my blog today is “Are you making progress or excuses?” I’m making progress. I’m pleased as pie with the month of April and I am determined to make the month of May even better. BUT without going nutty! No overtraining! No negativity! All progress and positivity!

Still addicted to fish tacos OMG!!! And I am doing some intermittent fasting 1-2 times a week. Very important when you do that, like Chelle said- you don’t throw those in and eat really really low-calorie the other days or you’ll faint. Eat normal and healthy and then the fast periods can balance out a higher calorie day. I’m gonna do this in May and see how it affects my weight loss. Hoping to be 8lbs less at the end of May!

And on that note, I must go because all this Yoga top talk has stressed me out and I need to get my Zen on. Amy- we need to go to Hot Yoga together this month. I miss! I miss! Also- peeps, here is another cool workout from our trainers at FitStudio: This one is called “Legs & Glute Mission” – I’m loving all these portable new workouts to try!

Small Goals, Big Progress!

“How do you eat an elephant?  One small piece at a time!”  That’s one of my favorite sayings.  When it comes to fat burning, fitness or weight loss, goal setting is one of the most important aspects of short term and long term success.
One of the major reasons most people give up on their fat burning, fitness and weight loss journey is because they set their eyes on a big goal, but forget that to get to that big goal, small goals have to be accomplished first.  Let’s say for example you want to lose six inches around your belly.  The best way to accomplish that is to set a 1/2 inch goal a week.  That can easily be accomplished (my private clients usually lose 2-3 inches on the Fat X Program).  Since a 1/2 inch is very doable, every week when you hit the 1/2 inch mark or more, it will only motivate you to keep going.  This is opposed to what normally happens.
Normally, someone would make that six inch goal and when they don’t lose most of it really fast, they get frustrated, give up and go back to their old habits. Usually claiming that nothing works for them.
Frustration with progress can lead to making big mistakes.  Avoid getting frustrated by making those small goals achievable and use that success to build momentum in your fat burning, fitness and weight loss journey.

How to Get Abs

My eating was a lot cleaner this week, though still not perfect.

I managed to gain almost a pound, and my workouts are now officially ingrained in my daily schedule again after passing the one-month mark.

We're gearing up to go on vacation this Friday, first to Myrtle Beach for 6 days, then Disney World for 4 days, so it will be challenging to stay relatively healthy, as far as eating while we're gone, but we're definitely going to try to limit an all-out setback, because 10 days is a long time.

Things have been relatively consistent over the last few weeks, and while I haven't really gained much of my weight back that I lost during mono, I've at least evened out.

I also reintroduced small portions of meat back into my diet, but only 100% organic and only about a fist-sized portion per day.

I'd like to find the balance of getting the benefits associated with small amounts of organic meat, while avoiding all the potential problems.

One great thing is that I've finally started working out every single day again, and I'm on 24 consecutive days now.

They've all been relatively quick workouts, but getting back into the habit was the most important thing.

Weight: 172.8 pounds (+0.8lb from last measurement)

Finally, an actual increase in weight, even if it is less than a pound, haha.

At least the bleeding has stopped, and I'm not going to drop into the dreaded 160's!

I expect this trend to continue as I keep packing back on healthy weight.

How to Get Abs Progress Pics: Still climbing back

After posting her pics here on FitBuff for the last few weeks, Alley decided to start her own website, so her progress pics and stats on now on her new health and fitness blog here:

Here are this week's progress pictures and measurements for me…

Weight: 172.0 pounds (-3.0lb from last measurement)
Waist: 31.7 inches (-0.3" from last week)

I'm still battling the after effects of mono and trying to regain the weight I lost, but doing so in a healthy manner. After my jaw surgery a couple of years ago, I piled it back on by eating everything in sight, which definitely put weight back on, but not healthy weight.

I figure now, at my thinnest in years, it's a good starting point to build lean mass, since I can't have much fat left at all. I've still be taking it easy from working out, because I definitely don't want a relapse, but it's been over a month now, so I should be completely safe to start this week.

I'm sure that will help a lot, and I've missed it so much.
